Champion species May update: Lancashire life feature

I’m incredibly excited to share some happy news. Last month, I had the absolute pleasure of being interviewed by Laura Wells for the June edition of Lancashire Life magazine. It’s been a whirlwind of a few weeks, and I’m thrilled to see the feature now out in print!

The article dives into a project incredibly close to my heart: my ongoing work with the fantastic Forest of Bowland National Landscape team on the Champion Species project. This isn’t just any creative endeavour; it’s a mission to support the incredible biodiversity right here on our doorstep.

Since October 2024, Hetty and I have been busy squirrelling away. Behind the scenes, we’ve been working hard to develop a unique and exclusive range of collectable pin badges. These aren’t just beautiful pieces; they have a crucial purpose. Every single collectable created is designed to aid fundraising efforts directly supporting nature recovery initiatives within the Forest of Bowland. Imagine owning a piece of art that directly contributes to protecting the very species it depicts – that’s the heart of this project!

My aim with these collectables is to bring these vital species to life in a new way, sparking conversation and inspiring people to connect with the nature around them. From initial sketches to the final designs, it’s been a journey of passion and collaboration.

Being featured in Lancashire Life magazine is a wonderful opportunity to share this story with a wider audience. Laura asked some brilliant questions that allowed me to talk about the inspiration behind the Champion Species, the creative process, and the vital role of the Forest of Bowland National Landscape team in protecting these precious habitats.
